While this is essentially an entry level guitar with the “name” and some neat appointments, it offers plenty of fun features for both beginners and seasoned players.
The Les Paul Slash AFD Speciall ii uses the platform of the low-end LP Special ii and adds on a good looking flame maple top, new Ceramic Plus zebra humbuckers and a built-in Shadow bridge tuner.
Also thinner and lighter than a standard LP, the AFD has a simper 2-knob configuration as oppose to the tradition 2-volume 2-tone arrangements on Les Pauls.
Of course the graphics on the headstock contributed to the price difference. Nice Snakepit logo seen here.
Main drawbacks are the machine heads and 42mm nut width. Buy hey, for $349 with a nice gig bag and some accessories, it’s not too bad. How else can you find a “signature model” at this price? 🙂
Comes in two versions. The AFD Slash Outfit (gigbag, strap and accessories) is going for $349 while the Performance Pack (with a small amp) was going for $489. Prices taken from Swee Lee at time of blog post.
